Manchester petrol station offers timed slots to help motorists buy fuel

As drivers ask where they can get petrol or diesel in Manchester, one garage is offering a novel approach to help spread the burden on staff and ensure motorists get their share.

Busy scenes on forecourts continued on Tuesday following the issues around a lack of HGV drivers to deliver fuel.

While the Government has pledged to use the Army to assist if necessary and continues to urge people not to panic-buy or stockpile, one Manchester garage has taken its own innovative approach to managing demand following a hectic few days for staff.

Filling stations like the Texaco garage on Cheetham Hill Road in Manchester have decided to only open the forecourts at certain time slots during the day and are imposing a £20 limit on customers.

Employee Ilyas Patel told ManchesterWorld it’s to help them cope with demand, as he explains in our video report.
