Manchester Half Marathon 2022 photos: 80 fab pictures and how to check results

There were thousands of runners taking part in this year’s Manchester Half Marathon - see if you can spot anyone you know in our huge photo gallery.

The streets of Manchester were filled with runners and spectators for the Manchester Half Marathon today (Sunday 9 October).

Around 15,000 runners of all abilities took part in the race, which started and ended near Old Trafford, passing through Hulme, Deansgate, Salford, Stretford, Sale and Chorlton.

The half marathon is the UK’s second largest, and also one of the flattest, with the route in 2022 passing through the city centre this time and past landmarks like Manchester Central Library and the Opera House.

The first racers got off their marks shortly before 9am, with the rest of the runners were set off in staggered waves.

Luckily for participants and the crowds of people supporting them, the weather was cool but sunny in the city centre.

An important part of the Manchester Half Marathon is the opportunity to raise funds for various charities from Cancer Research UK to the the Alzheimer’s Society. Fundraising means fancy dress and there were some impressive efforts from the runners this year, such as the Superheroes of Sale, who were raising money for Ronald McDonald House.
