NHS figures show that thousands of people in Greater Manchester are still facing long waits to begin hospital treatment. At the end of March over 150,000 patients were waiting to start their treatment within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

A new scheme encouraging Greater Manchester residents to get out and about on two wheels by hiring e-bikes has been launched. Cycling UK is running a pilot scheme called Cycling made e-asy which funds free loans of the vehicles for periods of up to three months at a time.

And a Tameside carnival organisation taking part in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant has launched a final appeal for volunteers. Global Grooves is the only local representative in the spectacular parade in London marking Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary seven decades on the throne.
