It feels like an age since the first plans for Co-op Live were announced. Months of planning and now construction have led to Manchester’s newest music venue being well on its way for an April opening.

A whole host of acts have been announced for dates this year and in 2025. Some of these are big, familiar names in the music industry and others have been tipped to reach the very top.

In recent weeks, Co-op Live announcements have been sprinkled with social media users calling for an announcement of a different performer. Harry Styles has cropped up as the next name the new venue should announce, and it might not just be hopeful thinking from fans.

Styles is more involved with the new venue than many realise. The singer, who grew up in Cheshire, is in fact a partner with the group behind Co-op Live. He makes an appearance on the homepage of the website, with a quote praising the arena plans and Manchester as a city. He's also been consulted on the design.

It reads: "I am incredibly proud to be partnering with OVG on their plans for Co-op Live. Manchester is an incredible city, filled with incredible people and I couldn’t be happier being involved in this project. It very much feels like coming home."

Speculation over how the arena will be officially opened and perhaps who might be there is growing. The first gigs are pencilled in for the first few days of May, with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Olivia Rodrigo down to play first at Co-op Live.

Fans calling for a Styles Co-op Live appearance and even a residency may just be hopeful, but that hasn't stopped them on social media. Posting under an announcement about A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie being the latest confirmed name, @tpwkkelsey_ said: "ANNOUNCE HARRY WE’RE TIREDDD." While @stylessupremqcy wrote: "for god's sake announce harry please i am losing the will.!"

Whether they get their wish remains to be seen. Styles does not have any tour dates currently booked, but we can live in hope.
