‘Cosy’ Manchester city centre pub yards from Market Street Metrolink stop reopens after extensive renovation

The Shakespeare on Market Street opened its doors to the public once again earlier this month. Located close to both Piccadilly Gardens and Market Street Metrolink stop, the pub is popular with locals and visitors to the city.
Features of the renovation include new exposed brick walls, Shakespearean prints and paintings, plush seating, and carefully chosen contemporary décor offer a harmonious blend of tradition and style that invites guests to settle in and enjoy its unique atmosphere. Along with these aesthetic updates, the pub has adopted a refined colour scheme and modern conveniences, including fully refurbished restrooms and a cosy built-in log fire, creating an even more inviting setting for everyone to enjoy.

The exterior has also been refreshed, with the signature black-and-white oak timbers newly painted and traditional signage refreshed. Real flowers and greenery now adorns the doorway to great guests, creating an inviting scene to passers by.
The upgraded drinks menu includes a variety of spirits, wines, and an expanded selection of draught beers and ales, including Greene King’s Level Head and Hazy Day IPA, seasonal treats like hot mulled wine, and non-alcoholic options such as the 0% Estrella Glacier on tap.


Beyond the visual improvements, the investment has provided over 25 new job opportunities for the local community, fostering community growth and providing fresh opportunities for locals in both front and back-of-house roles.
