Manchester’s world-famous Christmas Markets are finally open to the public. The Manchester Christmas Markets opened on 10 November and there’s even more to check out this year with a brand new Nordic tipi area - a perfect place to sit and chat to your family and friends with a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine by a log fire.

There are 220 stalls across nine locations of Manchester city centre, including Piccadilly Gardens, St Ann’s Square, Exchange Square and other iconic Manchester landmarks. We went down to speak to Manchester’s Christmas spokesperson himself, Councillor Pat Karney - as well as experienced traders - to find out what’s new for 2022 and why people from all over the world come down to experience the festive season in our city.

Coun Karney said: “Come down, the atmosphere is free, you can meet your friends for free - you don’t have to spend a lot of money.

“We’re the biggest in the UK - 220 Christmas stalls over nine sites in the city centre. It’s the perfect environment to enjoy yourself over Christmas.”
