Manchester's first veterinary practice which is solely for feline patients has opened next to The Christie hospital. The Manchester Cat Clinic welcomed its first four-legged patients on Tuesday 9 May at the former Boundary Vets site in Withington.

The oldest existing veterinary site in the area closed its doors during the Covid-19 pandemic, but now married couple Ellie and Daniel Lee have fully renovated it and turned it into their dream cat clinic.

The new clinic has modern facilities for its four-legged customers, including x-ray, dental equipment, an in-house laboratory, cat ward and a surgical theatre.

It will offer medical, surgical and dental care for cats, and Ellie and Dan have already signed up around 1,000 feline patients - though there is plenty of room for more.

Ellie said: “For the last 12 months we’ve been working so hard to bring this all together and we can’t wait to get started. We’ve had an amazing team of local veterinary nurses and support staff lined up for a while and we’re really excited to finally have them working with us very soon.”

Daniel said: “We’re really proud to be part of a new generation of vets bringing practice ownership back into local hands rather than large corporate chains. We’ve had a lot of support from local businesses and other vet practice owners across the UK. It’s really encouraging to be part of a community of small businesses who all want each other to succeed.”
