The airport has warned that demand for the fast-track service is extremely high and travellers need to book early as passengers have expressed frustration at a lack of available slots when they are flying.

Manchester Airport has reintroduced Security FastTrack bookings after weeks of the service being suspended - but is now encountering high levels of demand and facing frustration from passengers who have found all the slots have gone when they are flying.

The facility’s website showed on Monday (27 June) that it is now possible to pay extra for the time-saving express lane at security and passport control.

Security FastTrack had been suspended for weeks prior to this, with the airport saying bookings were taken offline at peak times due to how busy operations were.

That meant only customers who already had existing bookings for the express lane could use them.

Now, though, the website is taking bookings once more, telling prospective passengers that it would cost from £5 per person to book Security FastTrack.

However, not everyone who is flying out of Manchester Airport has been able to secure a Security FastTrack slot for the day and terminal of their flight.

And the airport has admitted that demand for the service is outstripping the number of places in the quicker line which are available. The travel hub advised passengers to book as early as possible if they want to take advantage of being in shorter queues.

A spokesperson said: “We continue to see very high demand for our Fast Track products. To ensure that the service is in keeping with customer expectation for a Fast Track product, we have to ensure that the proportion of passengers using this service at any given time is at a manageable level.

“As such, there is a limit to the number of Fast Track passes we can sell within each timeslot. If customers intend to use Fast Track, we would encourage them to book this at the earliest opportunity.”
