Two Manchester footballers have been given the Beano treatment to mark the comic's 85th birthday. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Manchester City star Phil Foden feature alongside King Charles III, Prince William, Adele and many more.

The celebrities who feature in the special edition were selected by a poll involving 3,000 children aged between 7 and 14 years old. Using the results, the Beano decided who would make their front cover.

The story of the special edition is the wave of celebrities helping the kids of Beanotown, which of course includes the famous Dennis the Menace, stop the town’s mayor from carving his face into Mount Beano.

Marcus Rashford is seen on the cover talking to a Beanotown United player telling them that this is the only club he will sign for. Phil Foden is joined by a cat and he proclaims that he wants to be the first person up the ‘meow-tain’.

The comic cover showcases King Charles wondering if he’s the monarch in Beanotown, as Queen Camilla happily informs him that kids rule in the iconic fictional town. Each of the celebrities featured will become a proud owner of a Golden Dennis & Gnasher Fan Club badge to commemorate their role in Beano’s birthday celebrations.

Mike Stirling, Director of Mischief at Beano said, “As Beano proudly celebrates its 85th anniversary, it continues to champion the power and joy of childhood by doing what it’s always done, showing kids being kids. Here’s to the next 85 years, and we dedicate this birthday issue to every child out there, because being a kid never gets old.”
