Man suffers life-changing injuries in horror collision with lorry on the M60 in Salford

A man is in hospital with serious injuries following a horror collision with a lorry on the motorway in Greater Manchester.
Police are now investigating exactly what happened on the M60 motorway in Salford on Thursday morning (1 September).

Hide AdGreater Manchester Police (GMP) said they believe the man got out of his vehicle in the moments before the collision and are urging anyone who can help them understand the circumstances to get in touch.
The man was taken to hospital with what was described as “life-changing injuries” by the police.
What do we know about the incident?
GMP said it received a number of reports, with the first one coming in at around 6.20am on Thursday morning, of a collision between a man and a lorry in the first lane of the M60 on the clockwise carriageway near junction 13.
Police say they understand that the 57-year-old man got out of his car onto the side of the motorway shortly before the collision happened.

Hide AdHe was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries and was in a serious condition as he continued to receive treatment on Thursday afternoon.
The driver of the lorry remained at the scene and is assisting GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit with its probe into what happened.
GMP said the incident caused significant disruption to traffic on the motorway on Thursday morning.
Police enquiries into the shocking collision are ongoing and GMP appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from around the area at the time it happened, to get in touch on 0161 856 4741 , quoting incident number 491 of the date 01/09/2022.
