A man was taken to hospital fighting for life after being struck by a car on a main road in Greater Manchester.

The 46-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on the A6 in Stockport at around 3.20am on Saturday (18 February). The incident involved an unknown vehicle and happened on the northbound carriageway in Great Moor, close to the junction with Corbar Road.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with multiple injuries, which have been described as life-threatening.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said it has specialist officers investigating this incident. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision or anyone, particularly taxi drivers, who may have dashcam footage.
