Jordan North rowing route: when does Radio 1 DJ arrive in Burnley - where did he go on Comic Relief challenge?

Jordan North has almost completed a gruelling 100-mile Comic Relief challenge.

Tackling the classic British weather, the Radio 1 DJ has rowed up 100 miles of British canals over five days.

North was very new to rowing, and had only a handful of training sessions in the Thames before setting off from the capital.

For the last four days, he has rowed from London towards his end goal of Burnley.

Passing through Birmingham and Stafford on the way, Jordan has taken part in a new stage each day this week.

The stages have been around 23 or 24 miles long each day, making it a long but equally distanced trip up to Lancashire.

So when did he arrive in Lancashire - and what parts of Greater Manchester did he pass through?

Who is Jordan North and where is he from?

Jordan North is a DJ who was born in York but who grew up in and around Burnley, Lancashire.

He is best known for his work on BBC Radio 1, but also hit our TV screens competing in the 2020 series of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’.

In recent years North has also co-presented the comedy agony-aunt podcast Help I Sexted My Boss with friend and etiquette expert William Hanson.

North is a huge fan of Burnley FC having grown up in the area and often describes the Turf Moor stadium as his ‘Happy Place’

North, 32, has co-hosted the Radio 1 Drive Time show since September 2021 when he replaced Nick Grimshaw.

Jordan North was also born on Valentine’s Day.

Where did he go on his Comic relief challenge?

North set off on 28 February from London and  has moved up through the canals of England over five days, stopping off at locations such as Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

His journey also took him through Northampton and Leicester as he rowed his way north.

On 3 March he rowed  from Liverpool to Wigan as he set up the final stretch which took place on 4 March.

Before setting off from Liverpool, North said: “I don’t want to get back into the boat, I don’t want to see another boat in my life, or another canal!

“It’s getting to a point where I am literally just thinking ‘one more stroke down’. I can feel every stroke now - every time I go forward, every time I go back. I just want to get into bed and sleep. I am so tired.”

"Mentally this has been the toughest day, it rained for most of it which really affected my mood and energy - plus it makes the whole body feel extra cold.

"I’m absolutely drained."

What time will Jordan North reach Burnley?

Jordan has been setting off at 8.30am and rowing until 3.30pm each day, before presenting his radio show from canalside with Vick Hope.

It is expected he will arrive in Burnley and be on Greg James’ breakfast show which finished at 10.30am this morning.
