Historically Easter eggs were once made from decorated hen’s eggs, whereas today the eggs we give and receive at Easter are made with chocolate and sweets.

While most are aimed at children, there are some increasingly decadent offerings in the shops to tempt a more grown-up market.

But how old is too old to have an Easter egg - or are you never too old to indulge? We asked the people of Manchester their thoughts and if they have any Easter traditions.
