Yotel in Deansgate, Manchester
Friday 12 November sees the return of Manchester Christmas Markets and the city is expected to be busy, including in its hotels.
The market, recently voted the best in the UK, attracts thousands of visitors from outside the area over the festive period.
Popular budget chain Travelodge recently advertised a £29 a night offer for hotels near Christmas markets, including Manchester Piccadilly Travelodge.
However, standard rooms for two adults at the super-central hotel in Piccadilly have long sold out - with only its upgraded ‘super rooms’ available for a Friday-Sunday stay this weekend priced at £325 to £398 for the two nights.
For those happy to travel a little further afield but stay within walking distance, there are still get standard rooms at Travelodge Manchester Ancoats, which starts at £267 for two adults for the whole weekend at time of writing.
Mercure Manchester Piccadilly also has rooms for two adults this weekend with a twin room priced at £364 for Accor members and £405 for non-members for the two nights.
Meanwhile, the newly opened Yotel on Deansgate (formerly Qbic) has some rooms for two adults from £408 for the weekend within walking distance of the markets and on tram and train routes for the city.
The Manchester Piccadilly Premier Inn and the Portland Street Premier Inn are sold out on Saturday, but still have rooms priced from £91 for the Friday only, with their nearest option for the whole weekend being Premier Inn Denton.
For those happy to travel a bit further out of the city centre, Booking.com is advertising 154 options for the wider Manchester area while AirBnB still has around 300 listings.
