Walkers heading to the new Greater Manchester Ringway will be able to get guidance through their smartphones. This comes as a new app has been launched in hopes of also encouraging people to visit the route.

A new collaboration between GM Ringway and Go Jauntly has seen the app produced. Through the app, you can view the entire 20 stage route in maps and pictures. Another option is the ‘Short Adventures’ option which sets up walkers on one of the ringway’s 20 stages.

GM Ringway offers more than 200 miles of walks around the city-region. As all of the routes are accessible by public transport, you can join each walk straight from a train station, tram stop or bus stop.

Andrew Read, GM Ringway’s project lead, said: “We hope this will encourage people to explore some of the most beautiful parts of Greater Manchester. There are lots of barriers to walking such as where to go, how to get there, and is there a loo or a café on the way. Thanks to the Go Jauntly app, we’ve taken those worries away.”
