and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
The Met Office has issued yet another weather warning - and it's not good news for New Year's Eve revellers. The yellow alert is for heavy rain with downpours set to welcome in 2024.
This warning for parts of Greater Manchester runs from 6pm on New Year's Eve until 6am on New Year's Day. According to the Met Office "frequent heavy showers may lead to some flooding and disruption to travel". Geographically, it touches the city centre but the impact will be more keenly felt in Horwich, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham to the north. That does not mean Manchester - and those heading to the New Year's Eve fireworks - won't need a brolly if they're heading out tonight. There could even be some hail storms too.
What does a Met Office yellow warning for rain mean?
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
