Greater Manchester bus station to be closed for longer than five week plan- passengers warned to check stops

Bus passengers in Middleton have been urged to check new stop locations with the town's main station to close for an extra period. The original plan was for it to be closed for five weeks form the start of February.

The station will now be closed until March 17. Stopping points for services are to change to allow resurfacing work to be carried out at the station.

A full closure of the bus station will come into effect on Sunday February 4. The work is set to take place over a five-week period. Services on Assheton Way, Long Street and Middleton Way will be moved to different stands for the duration of the work.

Howard Hartley, Head of Facilities at Transport for Greater Manchester said: “With buses in the area due to come under local control from March, these resurfacing works are essential to ensure the continued efficient and safe operation of Middleton Bus Station and the running of Bee Network services for many years to come. We are working to ensure that the short-term impact of these works on passengers will be minimal, and we would like to thank in advance anyone affected for their cooperation and support.”
