Hide AdIt was a notable day for British runner Eilish McColgan, who finished in second place in the Women’s 10K but beat the European and Great British record. But she couldn’t compete with a remarkable showing from Kenya’s Hellen Obiri who smashed the race record to take the women’s 10K crown. The exciting finish was televised live on BBC One.
Eilish said: “After coming so close to the British record in London I’m so happy to have broken it here today.
“We went off super-fast but I wanted to keep something for the final stages and I’m glad I did.
“Thank you for all the support on the course, it was so incredible, I love running in Manchester.”
