Despite the various rumours over the years of a possible reunion, many fans thought this day would never come.
One X user commented underneath the band’s announcement post: “Is it my imagination or have I finally found something worth living for?” Another said: “Never thought I’d see this day! We will meet on Wembley no matter what. I swear I'll be there!”
At the same time, fans are already anticipating the high demand for tickets and inevitable online chaos that will ensue once the ticket sales go live on Saturday 31 August. One user in X posted: “I am already stressed about getting tickets.”

There are also discussions regarding ticket prices, with lots of people making jokes about selling or re-mortgaging their houses to pay for tickets, or as Matt Doogue on X put it: “Bucket hats ordered. Kidneys sold.”
Another fan posted a picture of a poster for a 1995 Oasis gig, saying: “Any chance of doing Whitley Bay ice rink again for £12.50?” Similarly, someone posted another picture of an old poster for an Oasis gig in London advertising tickets for £4.

X user Billy Corcoran commented: “Imagine waiting 15 years for Oasis to reform only to lose out on tickets to Chloe, 21 from Stockport who just wants to hear Wonderwall live.”
There is also an image compilation of men with the infamous Paul Weller ‘mod’ haircut that was once popular among Oasis fans that has been doing the rounds on social media in light of the announcement, as you can see below.

Social media managers at big companies all over the world have also been finding ways to tap into the Oasis hype to help market their products.
The John Lewis X account commented under Oasis’ announcement post: “We haven't had this many searches for bucket hats since we launched the website.” While Lidl said: “This is the biggest comeback since the cheese twist #Oasis.” Even Limewire, the music download service that was huge in the early noughties, said: “So you're saying it's Definitely Maybe time for another big comeback in music?”

Comedian and Great British Bake Off host Noel Fielding reposted the new promo picture of the Gallagher brothers, saying: So exciting ! Im imagining the whole of the North will be there in one giant communal Parker. What a time to be alive ! In a world of Weak Pop shite people need a proper band playing some Rock n Noel x x x x Buzzing hard x”
But perhaps the most amusing so far has come from legendary Mancunian guitarist Johnny Marr. In response to one fan’s comment that if Oasis can reform, then so could his former band, The Smiths, he simply posted a picture of Reform leader Nigel Farage holding pint.
Speaking of other bands reforming. One X user joked about Oasis’ former Britpop rivals: “Blur have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever right now.”
