Therme Manchester: EventCity to be demolished as plans for huge new wellbeing resort move forward

Plans are in motion to demolish EventCity to make way for Therme Manchester, a new 28-acre wellbeing resort.
Proposals have now been submitted to Trafford Council by regeneration business Peel L&P to get rid of the 28,000 square metre conference centre, located on Barton Dock Road at TraffordCity.

Hide AdThe ambitious £250million project will bring an all-season urban beach, a waterpark, thermal pools, a spa, as well an urban farm and botanical gardens under one roof at TraffordCity, which is already home to a number of attractions, including the Trafford Centre and Chill Factore. There will also be swim-up bars and warm water lagoons at the attraction which is expected to host 1.5m visitors a year when it opens.

If approved, the demolition could take place as early as the end of this month, with construction set to begin at the start of 2023.
The resort is predicted to take two years to complete.

Hide AdTherme Group, the company behind the urban oasis, already have a number of entertainment and wellbeing sites across Europe, but say this UK’s first city-based resort of this size.
It will also see the creation of 1,200 new jobs for the local area.
