A Deansgate cocktail bar is looking for new owners. The Municipal, located at the Great Northern Warehouse, is on the market now for an asking price £75,000 on a leasehold basis.

The bar has space for around 40 people in its lounge area at the front, and a further 40 in the bar area at the back. It also has a separate VIP area and basement bar for large parties and other events. Due to the high footfall the busy city centre area enjoys, Municipal also opens for coffee during the day.

Christie & Co, who are handling the sale, have described this as an “excellent opportunity” for either a new or established operator to get their hands on a city centre business “in turn-key condition.”

Last month, Manchester City Council approved plans to completely transform the Great Northern, a Grade II-listed former train station. As part of the changes, the extension that currently houses the Odeon cinema will be demolished and around almost 750 flats built in its place, spanning three buildings, the highest of which will be 34 storeys.

The £294m regeneration project is due to start in 2024 and last until 2029. Around 45% of the 6-acre Great Northern site will be ‘welcoming green oasis,’ open to the public.

The Municipal is also surrounded by a string of already popular restaurants and bars, including the Almost Famous burger bar, Polish restaurant Platzki and James Martin’s Manchester restaurant.
