We are all truly shocked and heartbroken - tributes for 19 year old dad killed in targeted attack

Brandon Porter Kershaw, 19, died after he was involved in a collision with a vehicle on Porritt Street in Bury, Greater Manchester, at around 8.10pm on Monday. According to Greater Manchester Police, this was a “targeted attack” and a 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.

Tributes have been paid to Brandon, who was also a father.

Brandon's family have described him as a "kind-hearted young man" who was a "devoted dad" to his young daughter.

They said: “We are all truly shocked and heartbroken by the sudden loss of Brandon. He was a gentle, kind-hearted young man whose warmth and social nature touched everyone around him. Brandon was taken far too soon, and his passing has left a deep void in all our lives.”

Adding: “Brandon was a devoted dad to his young daughter, who he loved deeply. His family meant everything to him, and the bond he shared with his mum was incredibly special, they were best friends. As we come to terms with this devastating news, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and support one another through this difficult time.”

People on social media have also paid tribute to Brandon.

One person said: "I shouldn’t have to be writing this but I lost a little cousin who was like a little brother. Brandon words couldn’t explain what and how I’m feeling. Mate you was my best mate, brother and cousin. I’m gonna miss our little nights playing pool and going for a drinks, our little late drives laughing to music. It was only 24 hours ago we was singing our hearts out to music in the car and now I’m writing this. You really did bring out the best in people and lit up every room you was in.”

Adding: "Until we meet again. I love you mate fly high."

Another person said: "Rest in peace Brandon. You didn’t deserve what happened to you. I’m sending my love and condolences to your family."

Detective chief inspector David Moores, said: "As the investigation progresses, we have specially trained officers who have been deployed to support Brandon’s family to keep them updated throughout. From enquiries so far, we believe Brandon died from the impact of the vehicle and despite best efforts of emergency services, Brandon sadly passed away due to the severity of his injuries.”

Adding: “We still have people of interest we are keen to speak to. The driver of the vehicle remains outstanding and relentless efforts are currently being conducted by specialist units to locate him. I ask anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area that evening to come forward and know that information will be treated with the strictest confidence. It only takes one crucial piece of information that may be key to achieving answers for Brandon’s family and friends.”
