Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the neck outside a Salford pub on Friday evening.

Officers were called to the incident on Manchester Road East in Little Hulton at around 9.35pm. The ambulance service was already on the scene, tending to the victim, who was suffering from heavy blood loss.

Witnesses say they saw two men in balaclavas on electric bikes speaking to the victim before the attack and then moving on up Manchester Road towards Four Lane Ends.

Police have increased patrols in the area and implemented a 24-hour stop-and-search order, starting on Saturday morning.

DI Charlotte Poole from Salford CID said: “This was a spontaneous attack, in which a young man has received a stab wound to the neck. Thankfully, it’s not life-threatening, or life-changing, but it has still left the young man in hospital, recovering from surgery he’s had to have for a very serious injury.

“We have initiated the S60 and we would like to reassure members of the local community that this seems to be an isolated attack. We will have more officers around Little Hulton today and they will be happy to speak to anyone who may have more information on this incident, that may be able to help us locate these two men.
