11-year-old boy killed in bus crash in Bolton

An 11-year-old boy has died after colliding with a bus while cycling in Bolton.

The boy, who has been named by Greater Manchester Police today as Lucas Ashton, was riding down Vernon Road when he was knocked off his bike by a bus on Friday (30 December) afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus remained at the scene and has been assisting officers in their enquiries.

No arrests have been made yet, but specialist officers have been supporting Lucas’ relatives.

Police are appealing for information about the crash, including any footage. In particular, they would like to speak to anyone who was on the bus at the time.
