Conservative Party Conference in Manchester to close one Metrolink Tram stop until 7pm- Bee Network details

The Conservative Party Conference gets underway in Manchester today, and the city has been preparing to host the four day event. Finishing on October 4, the conference will take place at Manchester Central. 

Over 10,000 people are expected to visit the conference, which will include a speech from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Train journeys into the city have been affected by rail strikes and with more industrial action planned on the last day of the conference, people leaving Manchester via rail will face disruption. 

Even the PM faced trouble getting up to Manchester due to the strikes. He told BBC Radio Manchester last week that if trains were not affected by strike action then he would have got one to Manchester but instead, he drove. 

Local transport in Manchester has also been affected, but by the conference itself. Due to security arrangements, from the start of service on Sunday October 1 until 7pm, tram services will not stop at Deansgate-Castlefield and if you need to get to this area of the city you are asked to use St Peter's Square during this time.

This closure will also mean that services on the Trafford Park line will terminate at Cornbrook. Passengers can transfer onto one of the other lines in order to reach the city centre. 

For the duration of the conference, there will be no access to Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop from the side of Manchester Central. The Bee network recommend passengers use the steps or life on Whitworth Street to access the stop.
