Cities across the world with most upcoming music events - and Manchester makes the top 10

Music is one of the most popular forms of entertainment, and the lust for concerts and festivals has probably never been higher. A study by Bounce has analysed global cities, taking a look at the best places for upcoming music events - with Manchester among the best in the world.

The study looked at cities great for combining travel and music, but the news might be well received for Mancuian music lovers as well, as the city claims sixth place when ranking the most upcoming music events and music venues, beating cities like Chicago and Hamburg with over 1,300 events scheduled, including concerts with artists like Elton John and Blink-182.

Manchester also ranks high on upcoming festivals, with eight scheduled in the area including Parklife, with headliners such as The 1975, Prodigy and Wu-Tang Clan, and RADAR Festival. And 71 music venues with upcoming events including AO Arena and O2 Apollo.

Music has long been one of Manchester’s biggest exports, and it is rare for bands visiting the UK to not play a show in the city. Just this year, we are treated to shows by Duran Duran, The Chemical Brothers, Post Malone and more, while artists like Ed Sheeran and Paramore have played here already this year.
