Chris Eubank Jr’s trainer has been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition after being stopped at Manchester Airport.

Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre was in the corner of Eubank Jnr as he defeated Liam Smith in their big grudge match at the AO Arena on Saturday night.  But when attempted to fly home on Sunday, police say a firearm was seized from his luggage.

The 53-year-old, a decorated boxing coach who also works with US star Terence Crawford, appeared at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning. McIntyre was remanded in custody ahead of a further court date next month.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police read: “At around 10:45am on Sunday 3 September 2023, officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport.

“After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized. Subsequently, a 53-year-old man was arrested for possession of a firearm and was taken to custody for further questioning.
