Manchester City Council recently announced there would be no organised Bonfire Night events taking place this year. The local authority said in October it would not be running any Bonfire Night displays in 2022 due to escalating costs.

This follows two years of postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and may have disappointed some residents who were looking forward to the celebrations. However, for those who love a night of fireworks and gathering around a bonfire, there will still be some independent displays taking place around the city.
