Demand for pet food bank in Manchester soars as people struggle with rising costs of food

As the cost-of-living crisis continues, charities have been forced to set up pet food banks to help feed the nation’s beloved pets, as well as an influx of abandoned animals.

Pet charity Blue Cross says it is seeing growing demand for its pet food banks.

Data firm Kantar estimate that dog and cat food prices have risen by 10%.

The charity says that financial pressures are so severe that many are being faced with the dilemma of either feeding themselves or their pets. While others have been forced to make the heart-breaking decision to give up their pets altogether.

The branch in Bury is part of a wider UK network, with other pet food banks having recently been set up in Sheffield and Grimsby.
