There’s no better way to start the year than with a bracing dip in the open water!

For some the thought of spending New Year’s Day swimming in Salford Quays might not float your boat but for those aqua-lovers it is the perfect opportunity to take a dip while also raising money for charity.

In association with USwim, co-founder of Her Spirit, a free to download fitness app, Mel Berry is asking the public to wash away their worries and dramas from 2021, and emerge chilly, cleansed and ready to face whatever the new year has to bring.

She said: “There’s no better way to start the New Year than with a bracing dip in the cold waters. It’s fun, refreshing and amazing for your body and your mental health.”

But it’s not an event for the first timers as Mel says it’s important to have had some previous experience.

Entry cost is £25 for 16+years and £12.50 for 7-15 years. All monies raised will go to the charity, Reuben’s Retreat.

For further information and to sign up go to uswimopenwater.com. Booking is required.
