Altrincham's ambitious Stamford Quarter makeover continues with new shops planned for old Poundland
Property company Bruntwood and Trafford council have tabled the scheme for the 7,000 sq ft space in the Stamford Quarter, vacated by the discount retailer last summer.
It forms part of the major regeneration of the area, which includes the creation of Foundation, a 4,000 sq ft collaborative workspace and leisure destination.

The plans also include a living biophilic – meaning covered with plants – external facade that includes outlets like Nell’s Pizza, Yum Cha, Lane 7 and Starbucks.
In 2024, Stamford Quarter also saw retail openings, including Mountain Warehouse and the first store for the online retailer LOOKFANTASTIC.
David Charlton, Head of Asset Management at Bruntwood, commented on the announcement: “The Stamford Quarter has undergone an ambitious and successful transformation over the past 12 months.
“It’s been brilliant to see a myriad of popular independent and national businesses settle into the area, along with refreshed public spaces and how this has added life and colour to the high street. This new development will solidify the area as a thriving town-centre destination, which will continue to serve the local community for years to come.”
