1. Crown & Kettle
This Grade II listed free house in Manchester’s Northern Quarter underwent a refurbishment in 2020 but still has its original features. It received a Travellers Choice Award in 2021. The central bar serves up to seven ever-changing real ales from all over the country, which are said to be good value for money. A recent customer said: “Great little pub in the centre of town that was thriving even on a weekday. Lovely side rooms and open mic nights too. Cheap drinks and a good atmosphere, what more do you want?”
2. Flour & Flagon
This cosy pub near Manchester University offers a top-quality selection of beers and ciders from around the world as well as local brews. Pubgoers could grab a burger and a pint of San Miguel, Stella Artois, Birra Moretti, Brewdog Pale Ale or Strongbow Dark Fruit for £8.99.
3. The Ape and Apple
Located just off Deansgate, the Ape and Apple, owned by Joseph Holt Brewery, is a lively sports bar offering well-priced Joseph Holt lagers and ales.
