Manchester is better than Leeds and here are 11 reason why - as chosen by you

We asked our readers why they think Manchester is better than Leeds.

For some people, which side of the Pennines you’re from matters a lot. On one side, there’s Manchester, home of the Industrial Revolution, the Britpop era and world-class football, on the other, there’s Yorkshire.

Jokes aside, the Manchester-Leeds rivalry is just one of the rivalries our city is known for. There’s Liverpool, the other North West city, and there’s Birmingham, Manchester’s contender for the title of second city. Then there’s the rivalry that exists among ourselves – United or City.

Our rivalry with Leeds, however, dates back to the Tudor War of the Roses, which is also the phrase we still use today whenever Leeds United play Manchester United.

We asked our readers why they think Manchester is better than Leeds and we had the whole spectrum of answers – from the Trafford Centre to Bury market.
