Half-term is here and your children just cannot wait to put down the books and pens and pick up a few things that are a little more fun.
Here in and around Manchester there are loads of free or cheap family fun days to give your little ones just what they need after weeks of hard work.
Whether it’s educational activities, family bonding, or a bit of a joy injection, there’s so much to do and see this October half-term to give your family exactly what you need.
Here's our pick of what's on this October half-term.

9. Fairy Tales
Once upon a time at Z-Arts on Stretford Road, there was a fairytale town where a trip into the woods unveiled a secret world of princesses, giants, and an amazing palace disco! This unforgettable experience is truly magical and runs from the Tuesday to the Saturday of half term, so go and see if your family can help Jack win his magic beans at the market and so much more. This event is aimed at children from age 0-8 and costs £9 per child, and £3 for babies. | Z-Arts

10. Imperial War Museum North
Take your kids on a free educational trip this half term at this outstanding Salford museum and give them the perfect head start for their history classes. The museum is full of powerful stories, planes, weapons, and moving displays bound to teach both children and adults something brand new about some of history’s biggest events. | Getty Images

11. Heaton Park animal centre
If your children love animals this is a place in Manchester that is simply unmissable, and it’s completely free of charge. Located around the stables at Heaton Park is an adorable little haven full of a huge variety of animals like cows, pigs, goats, alpacas, ducks, hens and geese, making this a lovely family day out. Not to mention the park’s fields are littered with a herd of Hebridean sheep and Highland cattle. | Googlr Maps
