The Manchester venues including restaurants, takeaways and cafes with five-star hygiene ratings in November

With so many places to choose from to eat across the city, here’s a handy guide to some of the latest venues to receive top marks for their food hygiene.

There are many criteria people can use when deciding where to go for something to eat in Manchester - but for anyone looking for reassurance about cleanliness in venues, the food hygiene ratings can help.

Inspectors from local authorities tour premises across the city to make sure that their hygiene is up to scratch. The information and results is then held on behalf of councils by the national Food Standards Agency.

Businesses which prepare or sell food are judged on three measures: hygienic food handling, the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building and the management of food safety.

Below we’ve pulled together a gallery of the places across Manchester which received the best-possible rating of five stars in November. It’s an eclectic list, ranging from elegant but casual Italian dining establishments in the city centre to premises on Manchester’s popular Curry Mile in Rusholme to cafes, takeaways and bakeries.

In addition to the venues in the pictures below inspectors also gave five stars in November to Compass Group UK and Ireland’s premises on Lever Street. This is a large food business which includes catering and hospitality services providing food for venues such as schools, colleges, universities and hospitals.
