Popeyes to open in Manchester: Popular fried chicken chain coming to Piccadilly Gardens later this year

Mancunians will soon be able to get their hands on the Chicken Sandwich that broke the internet, as Popeyes has announced it will be landing in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens later this year.

The new venue is set to pull out all the stops to showcase its Southern hospitality as it brings a taste of Louisiana to Manchester. Formed in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana with a headquarters in Miami, the new Manchester store marks the chains 15th opening in 2023, and its 32^nd opening since landing in the UK in 2021.

Popeyes famously catered Beyoncé and Jay Z’s wedding, and fans around the world are known to queue over 14 hours to be the first through the door.

The new Manchester restaurant will seat up to 67 people for dine in, with 32 seats outside and takeaway will also be available. The menu will include the iconic Popeyes Chicken Sandwich which contains its signature 12-hour marinated chicken, and original Southern biscuits and gravy.

The chain will also be serving its brand-new breakfast menu, including the Big Breakfast Roll (a sausage patty, egg, streaky bacon, and American cheese in a soft bun), a variety of sausage, bacon, egg and cheese muffins, cajun hash browns, and its famous Louisiana buttermilk biscuits served with cinnamon sugar or Nutella.

“The city has been a key location for us since we first landed in the UK, and we’re looking forward to bringing the spirit of New Orleans to the iconic Piccadilly Gardens. Our most recent openings have been some of the biggest to date, not just in the UK but for Popeyes globally.

“After many requests for a Popeyes UK in Manchester, we are confident that the new restaurant will be just as popular and can’t wait to announce our opening week plans soon.”
