Manchester is a rich hotbed of music, giving the world some of the biggest musicians ever known. Oasis, The Smiths and Joy Division are just three of the globally renowned bands to grow from the city.
As well as having a long list of famous musicians rise from the city, Manchester is also the subject of many songs. This goes to show further the musical impact which Manchester has had on pop culture.
To celebrate this proud achievement, we’ve got together some of the songs which are about Manchester.

1. Longsight M13- Ian Brown
Ian Brown of The Stone Roses sang about the inner Manchester area of Longsight back in 2004. Brown sings about how he's travelled around the world, but he finishes the song by bringing his thoughts back to Longsight

2. Mancunian Way- Take That
The 2006 Take That song is a nod to their home town. The track even references the famous Manchester rain

3. Flowers of Manchester- The Spinners (multiple artists)
Written about the tragedy of the 1958 Munich Air Disaster, The Flowers of Manchester has been covered by many artists over the years. It is a powerful reminder of the sad loss of life within what was a very talented Man Utd side
