A legendary Manchester pizza chain has been named as one of the very best on the planet. 

Rudy’s ranks highly in Big 7 Travel’s list of the 50 Best Pizzas in the World, coming 16th. That’s no mean feat when you consider it includes pizzerias from all four corners of the world - including of course Italy.

What’s more, ranking 16th makes it the top-rated pizza place in the whole of the UK. A Manchester institution, it now has five restaurants in the city alone and has of course expanded further afield.

From family pizzerias, hip newcomers and old classics, the list, now in its fifth year, was determined from a combined score of reader suggestions throughout the year, online user reviews and Big 7 Travel's editorial team.

On Rudy’s the Big 7 Travel said: “Manchester knows how to do pizza, with Rudy’s being a case in point. 

“The Northern English city is a pioneer of excellent pizza, with ever-popular Rudy’s restaurants popping up across UK cities. There are five restaurants in Manchester alone, but the flagship store is in Ancoats.

“Despite Rudy’s increasing popularity, the quality has never faltered. You can always expect high-quality authentic Neapolitan pizzas, made from 24-hour fermented dough, San Marzano tomatoes, and toppings flown in from Napoli. And it’s best washed down with their signature Negroni.”

10 by Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria in Naples, Italy, was named the best place for pizza in the world, beating Masanielli by Francesco Martucci in Caserta, Italy, into second and New York’s Una Pizza Napoletana into third.
