There are plenty of places in Manchester to enjoy a pint or glass of wine, from traditional pubs to bars and clubs bound to suit anyone’s tastes.

Pubs are often selected as the ideal place to enjoy a couple of drinks and some grub on a weekend or weekday evening, and of course when there’s an important sports match to watch on telly.

With an array of traditional ‘proper’ pubs in Manchester City centre including favourites such as the Old Nags Head on Jackson’s Row and Sinclair’s Oyster Bar, you can’t go wrong when looking to enjoy a good night out.

We asked people in Manchester where their favourite pub is in the city-region and got a big spread of answers, ranging from The Bay Horse Tavern on Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter to the popular chain the Slug and Lettuce. Others selected the bustling bar/club Revolución de Cuba on Deansgate as their favourite venue in the city, and asked folk to explain their choices in our video report.
