Christmas is nearly here, which means panic buying and last-minute planning are at a yearly high. When the usual routine is paused for the festivities, it can be difficult to find something to do that fits your Christmassy requirements, especially when family and friends are gathering in their droves.
One thing that won’t draw in the complaints from your companions during the holidays is a trip to the pub for a drink or two to kick off the celebrations. Although many will be closing their doors on Christmas Day, there are still some pubs in Manchester that will be open to get you out of the house and making the most of the occasion.
Here are five of Greater Manchester’s pubs that you can rely on for a Christmas drink.
1. The Didsbury
This Chef and Brewer pub on Wilmslow Road will be open from 11.30am to 5.30pm on the 25th, serving a huge variety of real ales and wines to give you that warm and cosy feeling. The former coach house is getting ready to offer plenty of pub-goers their real seasonal selection this Christmas. The hearty atmosphere of this pub makes it perfect for holiday guests looking for something a little different.
2. The Wharf
The Wharf is a cosy yet lively canal-side pub in our city that will be ramping up the festivities on Christmas Day to make sure they can give everyone a wonderful gift of their own. Open from 11.30am to 3.30pm for drinks, they have loads of cask ales and wines, as well as 40 choices of gin and more than 50 malts.
3. The Trevor Arms
This Greene King pub in Chorlton will be open for drinks only from 12pm to 3pm on Christmas Day, spreading festive cheer by the bucket-load with it’s traditional feel and festive decorations.
