Several UK cities, including Manchester, have been named among the 100 best European cities.
Manchester ranked 33rd in the ranking by Resonance Consultancy, which was topped by London. In total, 17 UK cities made the cut.
The report praised Manchester for its “renowned university and a strategic location for future-focused business.” It said: “Manchester’s reputation as the engine of English industry drives a global curiosity in the storied city. Castlefield, an ‘Urban Heritage Park,’ is one portal into history: the city’s canal, favoured by tourists today, once transported coal into the city’s industrial hub. More urban reuse is planned.”
Also mentioned in the report are Manchester’s reputation in the academic world and its tourist attractions, including the newly-refurbished Manchester Museum.
The rankings analysed each city based on six areas: place, product, programming, people, prosperity and promotion.
