It’s not usually a compliment to say that anything on a restaurant’s menu is a dog’s dinner - but one Manchester city centre hotel is setting out to change that by welcoming guests’ four-legged friends into the dining room. The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel near Oxford Road station has revealed its latest seasonal menu for its restaurant - and it includes a roast dinner for your dog.

The Refuge is serving up a small roast bowl inspired by the venue’s popular traditional Sunday dinners which will be placed in front of your eager pooch. It’s all part of the hotel being a pet-friendly destination where animal guests are welcome as well as humans.

The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel has unveiled a roast dinner for your dog as part of the new spring menu at its restaurant The Refuge. A small roast bowl can be produced for your canine companion which is a version of the restaurant’s traditional Sunday lunch especially for your four-legged friend. The meal for dogs features some meat, veggies and a little gravy and anyone wanting one for their pooch is encouraged to request it when booking their table reservation.

Human diners have certainly not been forgotten either, with a new feasting menu at £35 per person made up of small plates for four or more friends and family. You can pick from dishes such as RFC buttermilk fried chicken, hispi cabbage with soy and miso, padrón peppers served with soy and crispy onions; whipped goat’s cheese and gochujang-glazed pork belly. Diners can also continue to choose long-standing favourites such as The Refuge’s roast platter for two hungry people, which includes a rump of beef and half a chicken with all the trimmings.

The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel said the roast dinner for dogs is just the latest thing the venue has done to make it as pet-friendly as possible and encourage guests to bring their four-legged friends with them for a stay. Guests can get a full set-up for their pet in the room, a pet tuckbox, a pet guide to the best dog-friendly places to visit and a toy and treat or two. Pets all get to stay at the hotel for free.

Stephanie McIver, general manager of The Refuge, said: “At The Refuge we extend our invitation to dogs which is a continuation of Kimpton Clocktower Hotel’s dog-friendly policy, making all dogs welcome alongside their human guest counterparts and offering dogs their very own Sunday roast dinner.
