Man City striker Erling Haaland could soon become the centre of a Manchester store’s name change. The Holland & Barrett shop on Market Street is considering changing their name to Haaland & Barrett to pay tribute to the Norwegian's stunning first season at the club.

Haaland’s 52 goals and eight assists so far this season has put City on the brink of winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in what would be an amazing treble success- this total has been added to since his return from injury. Another success for Haaland would be, of course, seeing his name up on a Manchester street.

Before the match on Wednesday (May 17), the company said if Haaland scores the winning goal in the game or that an Instagram post about the name change hits one million likes, they’ll temporarily change the name of the shop. As Haaland was unable to add to his many goals this year, it’s over to Instagram to get the job done.

Speaking before Man City’s triumphant 4-0 victory against Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium, Holland & Barrett Market Street store manager, Mark Madders, said: “Our colleagues are very excited ahead of tonight’s match and we want to honour Erling’s amazing record by changing our Market Street store name. We’ve even gone as far as mocking up what our new sign could look like”.

Holland & Barrett Chief operating officer, Anthony Houghton, said: “We love our Manchester colleague’s passion for football – be it Red or Blue– so I’ll make a promise, if our social post gets 1 million likes (or Haaland scores the winning goal) we’ll temporarily change the sign…”
