Manchester has been the home to many iconic TV shows - Corrie, Cold Feet, the list goes on.
But the city is also well-used by big studios in need of a certain backdrop, building or location. We've taken a look at how the city has starred on the big and small screen in recent years. And some might surprise you.
5. Manchester Town Hall (Albert Square)
Film directors have used Manchester’s Town Hall in the past due to its resemblance to London’s Houses of Parliament. Parts of the film ‘Darkest Hour’ featuring Gary Oldman were filmed here. ‘Sherlock Holmes’ featuring Robert Downey Jr. was also famously filmed here for the same reason.
6. Northern Quarter
Manchester's Northern Quarter was transformed into New York for several scenes in series four of 'The Crown', focusing on Princess Diana's solo trip to the city in 1989.
7. Night & Day Cafe (Oldham Street)
