The PDC World Darts Championships has the honour of being the first World tournament in the sporting calendar

It has also called London’s Alexandra Palace its home since 2007, welcoming thousands of fans every year as the best darts players in the world compete for the biggest title in the sport. However, talk has increased about the tournament moving away from the London venue due to increased demand for tickets.

Matchroom Sport president Barry Hearne told Sky Sports News that more tickets could be sold if the tournament was at a bigger venue. Alexandra Palace has a capacity of 3,200 at present.

He said: "We reckon we could sell 250,000 tickets for the World Championship and they wouldn't fit in the Ally Pally. We are keeping our options open because we have learned with Luke Littler that you sometimes can't see what is coming. It's under discussion with everybody"

Attention has since turned to which UK venue could be next on the list of venues for the iconic darts tournament. Manchester can hope to have its hat thrown in the ring, with an arena with over 30 years of experiencing the biggest events in the world right in the middle of town.

The AO Arena has hosted pretty much any kind of event you can think of, and including darts. The Premier League of Darts has been a regular feature of the schedule at the arena, and this will remain the case in 2025.

New data has shown that the Manchester arena may be in with a shout for becoming a future host of the World Championships. Compiled by AskGamblers, it has been found that the AO Arena is the loudest indoor arena in the UK, producing 2,147,850 decibels.

This was the only venue to surpass two million decibels in the data collection, and was way out in front of the O2 Arena in London. The venue on the banks of the River Thames clocked up 1,867,696.

There are plenty of other reasons why it could tick a lot of the boxes organisers want. The transport network in Manchester and location of the arena to this is key. Metrolink stops and a national railway station are just yards from the entrance.
