Jamaica Blue: First look inside new Manchester Arndale coffee shop opening next week

Here’s what you can expect and what’s on the menu as the new cafe Jamaica Blue opens at the Arndale.

A new coffee shop is coming to the Arndale Centre, joining a string of new food and drink spots that have opened in the past year.

Jamaica Blue, named after the coffee-producing Blue Mountains of Jamaica, is an Australian company that already has 17 locations in the UK and more than 130 in total across seven countries. Aside from coffee – which comes in two house blends, Jamaica Blue Signature and Jamaica Blue Mountain – the cafe offers a wide range of food items, both hot and cold.

There are brunch favourites like avocado on toast, pancakes and eggs benedict, as well more substantial dishes like their Jerk chicken burger and Sirloin minute steak. For quick, on-the-go lunch options, there are a range of flatbreads, ciabattas and wraps.

The new cafe will be located in the Halle Square area of the shopping centre, occupying a 4,206 sq ft two-floor unit on a 10-year lease. It will open on Wednesday 10 November.

Josh Nixon, head of estates for Jamaica Blue UK, said: “Jamaica Blue’s foundations are built on two simple beliefs that guide us in everything that we do. Firstly, a belief in sourcing the very best coffee, and secondly, only using fresh, premium ingredients to deliver contemporary café dishes with a twist.

“We’re thrilled to be opening at Manchester Arndale on the 10th November, and excited to share our high-quality coffee and delicious menu with Manchester’s foodies!”

Jamaica Blue is the latest of several food and beverage retailers that have launched in the city centre shopping mall over the last 12 months. Among them are Slim Chickens, Doner Shack, Creams, The Butcher at Urban Playground, Kokoro, Tim Hortons and Pizza Hut Express.

Several existing retailers have also renewed their contracts – including Nando’s, which has signed on for another five years.

Scott Linard, portfolio director of the Arndale’s letting agent M&G Real Estate, said: “It is great to welcome such an innovative and fast-growing chain like Jamaica Blue to Manchester Arndale.

“We place great importance in providing a strong food and beverage offer at Manchester Arndale and we want to ensure we provide the best choices for our shoppers and visitors.

“It is also pleasing that this letting to Jamaica Blue comes off the back of several exciting new food and drink arrivals at the centre alongside some significant retail and leisure lettings over the past 12 months.

“We hope to share more exciting news over the next few weeks as we continue to make Manchester Arndale the home of the most popular UK and international brands.”
