Greater Manchester property: the areas where house prices have risen the most

This is what the latest data from the Land Registry shows for house prices in each borough across Greater Manchester.

If you’re looking to buy or sell a house in Greater Manchester chances are you will be keeping a close eye on what the property market across the city-region is doing.

ManchesterWorld has also been taking a look at the ups and downs homeowners face and have rounded up the latest figures on house prices across our area. The Land Registry figures for December 2022 show that compared to the previous month house prices in six of the 10 boroughs in the city-region went up, while they decreased in the other four.

However, those month-to-month drops did not impinge too much on the broader trend of rising house prices in Greater Manchester, with all 10 boroughs experiencing double-digit increases in the value of homes over the last 12-month period data is available for.

Across the North West as a whole prices decreased by 0.1% between November and December 2022, while across the whole of the UK the average was a decrease of 0.4%.

The average UK house price was £294,000 in December 2022, which was £26,000 higher than 12 months earlier. Average prices in Greater Manchester ranged from £192,781 in Wigan to £384,143 in Trafford (which also saw the biggest monthly increase at the end of last year at 1.6%).
