Gino D’Acampo to launch new Manchester city centre restaurant with terrace and cocktail bar

Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo is launching a new restaurant in Manchester, which will be a rebrand of his First Street Kitchen & Bar within the INNSiDE Melia hotel. 

Described as a “premium Italian restaurant,” the new Gino D’Acampo will open following a £800,000 refurbishment of the First Street spot. This will be the third collaboration between the TV chef and INNSiDE by Meliá, part of the Meliá Hotels Spanish hotel chain. The restaurant is aiming to open in February 2024.

Gino already has several other restaurants across the UK, including restaurants in Liverpool and Newcastle, as well as other upmarket venues in London and Leeds. He is set to have a busy 2024, with three new restaurants also opening next year. 

What to expect

The interiors have been created by British restaurant designer Bernard Carroll, in a chic and contemporary style, including Gino’s signature feature wallpaper, marble topped tables, brass finishes, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and ambient lighting throughout.

The 200-seat, two-tier restaurant will also be open-plan and include a lounge bar and 80-seat terrace, which will be turned into an all-weather terrace during the next phase of the refurbishment. To the rear of the restaurant, there will be an island cocktail bar that will have its own entrance to the hotel reception. 

Some modifications will be made to the kitchen to make sure Gino and his team can deliver his full menu, which includes real Neapolitan pizzas, signature dishes, and new table theatre plates. The drinks menu will be curated by Gino’s expert sommeliers, featuring expertly crafted cocktails, Italian and international wines, Prosecco, Franciacorta, spirits, and artisan beers.
