'Promoting independent beer and local venues': World's smallest pub opens in Manchester
Vocation Brewery has unveiled The Wandering Inn, a 5’5” travelling pub, with its debut on Oxford Road outside Vocation & Co in Manchester.
The mobile pub is designed to promote independent beer, support local venues, and respond to growing consumer demand for bolder and more distinctive pints.
The launch follows a nationwide survey of 2,000 adults, which found that nearly 8 in 10 people would visit pubs more often if there was a wider variety of beers available, and 81% would pay more for more interesting options.

The study also showed that 74% of respondents felt large breweries dominate pub taps, with many describing the selection as “uninspiring.” Nine in ten said they enjoy trying new beers.
Vocation’s research also identified the UK’s top 10 “Beer Moments,” highlighting occasions when people value their pint the most. The list was topped by country-pub beers (40%), followed by beer garden pints (39%) and the first beer on holiday (38%). Other moments included BBQ beers, pre-match drinks, and the classic clocking-off pint.

Gail Lumsden, Chair and CEO of Vocation Brewery, said: “The findings show Britain’s beer lovers want more choice, more flavour, more adventure – and so do we. Beer should be an experience – something that engages you, stays with you, and invites you back… We created The Wandering Inn to champion the spirit of independence and discovery in beer.”
The Wandering Inn will tour locations across the UK in 2026, offering bold, full-flavoured beers and aiming to bring new energy to the pub scene while encouraging drinkers to explore new flavours and support independent breweries.
