"No longer viable" - Iconic Manchester restaurant closes after almost 22 years

TNQ, located in the Northern Quarter have announced the closure of their popular restaurant.

The independent neighbourhood restaurant has been in operation at a prominent site in the city’s Northern Quarter for almost 22 years.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Jobe Ferguson and Anthony Fielden said: "We've made it through the banking crisis, double dip recessions and Covid but the current climate has made the restaurant no longer a viable business.

"An increase in energy bills, wages, soaring food costs and the further imminent increase in business rates have created the perfect storm resulting in the closure of our beloved restaurant.

"We want to thank all of our partners and suppliers over the years, many of whom are now friends of ours. Also thank you to the amazing team who have shed blood, sweat and tears throughout the years.

"Finally thank you to all our wonderful guests who have supported us over the years, many of whom we are proud to call our friends."

Many have taken to social media to express their sadness at the restaurants recent news.

One user said: “Very sad to lose this absolute gem” whilst another said: “Gutted about this. TNQ has been one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester.”
